Sunday 9/6.San Antonio to Carlsbad to El Paso to Deming,NM. Left SA at 6am in rain.By the time we got to west Texas, the weather was great.Almost hit an unidentified pig/boar animal while traveling 75 mph on a desolate side road to Carlsbad. Texas is a biggg state. we saw catci, windmill farms, hilly terrain ,mesas, and hicks driving their pickups wildly down another desolate stretch of road.We cannot figure out why anyone would want to live in a trailer in the middle of the desert miles and miles away from civilization and Starbucks. Everyone must go to Carlsbad Caverns once. Pictures do not do it justice. This now comes off of Matt’s bucket list.We also went through Guadaloupe Mts National Park which is a surprise gem. El Paso is El Scario. All of the traded in cash for clunker vehicles are in this town.We were stopped by the border patrol leaving Las Cruces and fortunately, we do not look very Mexican, so they let us proceed.Tomorrow up early for our third La Quinta breakfast and on to AZ and the Grand Canyon.
